The MobilHybrid is built on a very robust steel carrying frame the size of a Euro pallet. Easy handling is possible with a forklift, an ant or with lifting gear on the ring eye in the centre of the lid; the units can even be pulled over terrain as a sledge. The Euro pallet size makes logistics much easier over longer distances.
What makes the MobilHybrid mobile and how can it be transported?
Are there any safety aspects to consider when transporting the MobilHybrid?
The non-hazardous lead batteries used are suitable for transport without any restrictions; they even have air transport approval.
Can the MobilHybrid be set up outdoors?
The very compact and robust housing is suitable for outdoor installation with IP54 protection.
Does the MobilHybrid need to be earthed?
The equipment in accordance with the regulations of the employers' liability insurance association allows unlimited use without earthing measures. Operation is very simple without you having to be an electrician.
Which batteries are installed?
We use high-performance lead gel batteries in the standard MobilHybrid. These are completely safe and suitable for transport without restrictions. The batteries offer a very high discharge capacity and a wide temperature range compared to lithium-ion. In addition, the issue of recycling is very important to us, as the 99% batteries are recyclable.
How long do the batteries last?
The batteries are designed for a service life of approx. 1200 cycles. At one cycle per day, this corresponds to a service life of approx. 5 years. At the end of the service life, a residual capacity of 80% is defined.
What happens after the number of cycles is reached?
At the end of the service life, a residual capacity of 80% is defined. This means that the usable capacity is reduced to 80%. When this limit is reached, we recommend replacing the batteries, as the generator always has longer running times when the capacity is low, which increases the operating costs again.
Can the batteries simply be replaced?
The battery set can be replaced cost-effectively in a short time. Of course, we take back the old battery sets and recycle them.
What happens to the batteries when they are replaced?
We take these back free of charge. We recycle them because the 99% batteries used are recyclable.
Why are lead gel batteries installed in the standard MobilHybrid?
We use a proven and safe technology that has been established over many years. The batteries used are high-performance batteries with a high discharge capacity and number of cycles with optimal economic efficiency.
Are there also lithium-ion batteries?
For special performance and weight requirements, we alternatively offer equipment with lithium-ion batteries.
How much will a battery replacement cost me?
The cost of a battery set is around 20% of the unit's original price. The installation is carried out either at our factory or, if desired, at the customer's site.
What happens when the batteries are deeply discharged?
The MobilHybrid switches off before the battery voltage drops too low to protect the battery from deep discharge. To prevent this condition from occurring, always switch off the main switch when you are not using or storing the MobilHybrid and have not connected it to a generator or mains.
What protective devices does the MobilHybrid have?
The MobilHybrid is protected against overload, short circuit, overtemperature and current backflow.
What happens in the event of an overload?
In case of overload or short circuit at the output, the inverters switch off for a few seconds and then restart. If this situation occurs 3 times in immediate succession, the inverters switch off completely. To reactivate, the MobilHybrid must be switched off and on again using the main switch.
Is the MobilHybrid also available as an IT network (with isolation monitor)?
An IT network must be provided for operation under increased safety requirements (network neutral conductor without earth pull). This is no problem for the MobilHybrid. The MobilHybrid reports any insulation faults via its own insulation monitor and switches off the output power. This system is particularly recommended when laying cables in a damp environment.
Can the MobilHybrid also be equipped with FI type B?
Each MobilHybrid can also be supplied with an optional FI type B variant.
Which output connectors are installed?
For the connection of multiple output loads and input supplies, different plug sizes from 32A to 125A can be selected as second input or output plugs.
What size should the unit be?
MobilHybrid should have a minimum rated power of approx. 25-35% of the rated power of the connected generator. Thanks to the "power boost" function, this combination is capable of covering even short-term peak loads of up to the sum of the rated outputs of MobilHybrid and generator. Consequently, you have the option of using a smaller and thus more efficient generator than without MobilHybrid. If your application requires a very low average output with only occasional peak loads, a very small generator may be sufficient. If you have any questions about the dimensioning of generator and MobilHybrid, please contact our sales department. We will be happy to assist you with the dimensioning of your power supply system!
Can any generator be coupled with the MobilHybrid?
In principle, any power generator can be coupled with the MobilHybrid. Some generators already have a remote start option that the MobilHybrid can use directly for control. The start/stop function takes place via a potential-free contact and can be connected to any generator.
How does the start/stop connection work?
The MobilHybrid is connected to the generator via a generator control cable. A 230 VAC supply voltage and a potential-free contact for starting the generator are fed out via the cable. If the contact is closed, the generator starts; if the contact is opened, the generator is switched off.
Does the MobilHybrid start the generator automatically?
The MobilHybrid starts the generator automatically whenever the batteries are empty or more power is needed at the output (so-called "power boost operation").
What does "power boost operation" mean?
In Power Boost mode, the MobilHybrid combines its own power with that of your generator. This gives you the option of covering your power needs with a correspondingly smaller - and thus more efficient - generator if you only have occasional peak load demands.
How long does it take to charge the MobilHybrid?
This depends on the generator or the electricity grid. The MobilHybrid MH12 can be charged with 11kW, the MH24 with 12kW and the MH36 with 20kW. This results in an average charging time of 1 to 2 hours.
Can I prevent the generator from starting at certain times, e.g. at night?
With the "Night switch" option, you have the option of executing the generator request only during the daytime hours, e.g. from 7:00 to 20:00. At night, the generator remains off and you can sleep peacefully. The MobilHybrid ensures that the batteries are fully charged shortly before the night's rest. This way, even critical neighbours in the city are not disturbed. If the energy demand during the night is higher than the charge of the battery, the generator remains off until the night is over; of course, if the batteries are empty, no more power can be drawn.
What savings can be achieved with the MobilHybrid?
On a construction site with 24-hour operation on 250 days, a 40kVA generator and a MobilHybrid MH24 result in savings of 53% amounting to 22,700 € and a runtime reduction of 75%. We will be happy to support you in advance with the system design and show you savings in detail.
Can the MobilHybrid also be operated without a generator?
The MobilHybrid can also be used without a generator for daytime operations with manageable energy requirements. Beforehand, it is charged from the mains or with energy from a photovoltaic system and then supplies all consumers at the place of use completely noise- and emission-free until the battery is empty. The display shows the battery status at any time.
Can the MobilHybrid also be charged from the mains?
A mains supply can also be plugged in via the generator input or the optional second input to charge the MobilHybrid. The input current can be limited via the display so that the MobilHybrid does not draw more current than permitted.
Can I charge the MobilHybrid on the single-phase mains?
The MobilHybrid can also be charged with a single-phase mains supply via a second input. From size MH12 upwards, the MobilHybrid provides three-phase current at 400V at the output. This opens up completely new possibilities for supplying even large loads such as construction cranes and pumps with a single-phase power grid, and completely without a power generator.
Can the MobilHybrid also be used as a UPS (mains-coupled backup system)?
The MobilHybrid can also be used as a backup system (uninterruptible power supply, UPS) in areas with a high power failure rate. In the event of a power failure, the MobilHybrid, which is equipped with internal batteries, takes the place of the failed public power grid and thus enables an uninterrupted power supply to the consumers downstream of it. These are then supplied with energy according to the available battery capacities. When the mains voltage is available again, the battery is recharged within a short time.
Can the MobilHybrid also supply loads with a high starting power?
The MobilHybrid is protected against overload and short circuit. Thanks to its oversized power section, the MobilHybrid can provide consumers with a starting power of up to 250% of its rated power for a short time (in the range of seconds). In this way, even large loads such as electric motors can be started without any problems.
How many photovoltaic modules can be connected to the MobilHybrid?
The ideal complement for every MobilHybrid is a solar system. Each installed kWp of module power provides an average of 3 KWh of energy per day. Up to two solar chargers can be added as an option to each MobilHybrid, keeping the batteries full and reducing the running time of the diesel generator. Each solar charger has a rated power of 5.8kW at a maximum voltage of 150V.
Can the MobilHybrid also be installed in a vehicle (Sprinter, truck) or in a container?
For permanent use on vehicles, take additional measures to protect against vibrations (e.g. decoupling via vibration dampers). When installing in a container, keep the ventilation openings clear and a minimum distance of 30 cm to the left and right from all objects that could possibly obstruct the ventilation of the unit.
Can the MobilHybrid also be used as a mobile electric filling station?
With the "E-Mobility" option, the MobilHybrid becomes a charging station for electric vehicles with up to two Type2 charging plugs with 22kW/11kW.
Up to what power is the MobilHybrid mobile?
The MobilHybrid with crane eye and forklift lugs is available up to an output of 36kW and a usable battery capacity of 36kWh.
From what size is the MobilHybrid installed in a container?
From an output of 48kW and a usable battery capacity of 48kWh, we install all components in a standard container with ventilation and optional air conditioning. Due to the modular design, outputs of up to 108kW and 300kWh are possible.
Can the MobilHybrid also be ordered in other colours and logos?
On request, we can also deliver the MobilHybrid in your company colours (RAL).
How long does the MobilHybrid supply a load with 1kW?
A MobilHybrid MH12 supplies the load for 12 hours and an MH24 for 24 hours.
Does the MobilHybrid store data and can I view it?
If desired, the MobilHybrid sends all data to a monitoring portal. The portal monitoring always shows you the current status the unit is in. Historical data is also available at any time and documents the savings.
Does the MobilHybrid need to be serviced?
The MobilHybrid is largely maintenance-free. With proper use, the electronics of the unit can reach a service life of more than 10 years. Nevertheless, minor maintenance and regular checks are advisable to keep your MobilHybrid running reliably in the long term. In dusty environments, we recommend tapping out the filter mats every 2 to 3 weeks and replacing them every 3 months.
